HOUSTON, TX — Eleven janitors employed by a New York-based contractor have found themselves barred from returning to work following their participation in a strike, according to the Houston Chronicle.

A spokeswoman for the Service Employees International Union (SEIU) said the janitors, who were employed by Pritchard Industries Inc., were not allowed to return to work on Thursday, which is in violation of federal laws, the article stated.

According to the article, the union plans to file a complaint with the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB).

The janitors had voted to strike in response to what the group of over 3,000 janitors perceived to be threats and misconduct by janitorial contractors, the article noted.
