CRDN OPERATOR RECEIVES PRESTIGIOUS SERVICE LEADERSHIP AWARD
Los Angeles, CA – Rotary International has announced that Ray Rangwala, owner of CRDN of Los Angeles and Esteem Cleaners (also serving LA), has received the Vocational Service Leadership Award, presented by Rotary International at the annual convention of Rotary District 5260, held June 8-9, 2012, at the Beverly Garland Hotel in Studio City, California.
Rotary International and the Glendale Sunrise Rotary Club (Rotary District 5260, serving the Antelope, Owens, Santa Clarita and San Fernando Valleys of Southern California) has recognized Ray for his outstanding volunteer efforts to provide donated clothing to thousands of individuals, annually, across Southern California. For the past 11 years, Ray has served as Chair of the Southern California Cleaners Association’s (SCCA) annual Coats for Kids project.
This is the first year the Award has been given—and each year, it will recognize one individual for their promotion and advancement of vocational service to their community as well as their commitment to the highest, ethical business standards.
“As the inaugural recipient of this award, I am both humbled and honored to accept this acknowledgement and to share it with all of the project volunteers. The combined efforts of my fellow CRDN of Southern California Partners, Bobby Patel, Dave Suber and Shah Hiten, the participating members of the Southern California Cleaners Association and all of the dedicated Rotary volunteers have granted thousands the ability fulfill one of life’s most basic needs: clothing for their backs.”
As Chair of Coats for Kids for the past 11 years, Ray has coordinated the efforts of 27 schools from the Glendale Unified School District, five local fire stations and a small army of volunteer Rotarians to collect thousands of donated coats and other items of clothing. Then, along with many of his local industry colleagues, Ray, as operator of Esteem Cleaners and CRDN of Los Angeles, also generously donates drycleaning and laundry services to clean and restore the items to like-new condition. Over the years, Ray has enlisted the expert assistance of his fellow CRDN of Southern California Partners, Bobby Patel (owner of CRDN of LA County South), Dave Suber (owner of CRDN of Orange County and Eastern LA) and Shah Hiten (owner of CRDN of Inland Empire), who also donate their services as local garment and household textile restorers.
CRDN, an international network of textile restoration experts serving the insurance industry, has over 130 locations in the United States, Canada and the United Kingdom. CRDN Partners respond 24/7 to the needs of families who have experienced a fire or flood in the home.
“Ray’s service to the community over these past 11 years speaks volumes about his dedication. And his efforts to maintain the highest ethical standards for his employees, associates, customers and the public-at-large, proves an unwavering dedication to his craft. He’s both an ambassador for Rotarians around the globe and a role-model for all California business owners,” stated Tom Hardy, Governor for Rotary District 5260.
Wayne Wudyka, CRDN founder and CEO, commented: “On behalf of the entire CRDN family, I would like to congratulate Ray for receiving this honor from such an historic and respected organization as Rotary International.” He added, light-heartedly, “I wish I could say I was surprised,” then clarifying, “CRDN members like Ray are doing this type of caring work in their communities every day—helping families recover from tragic events and severe damage to their homes. Their job is also their way of life.”
