FORT LAUDERDALE, FL — Commercial cleaning service provider Coverall Cleaning Concepts and Lifetime Television Public Affairs announced via press release/Internet Tuesday that Lifetime has named five-year Tampa, FL, Coverall franchisee JoAnn Munford as a recipient of the "Lifetime Achievement Award" as a "Hometown Hero" for community service.
Lifetime honored remarkable women who make a difference in their community every day.
Several people in Munford's hometown, Brooksville, FL, nominated her, Coverall said.
According to Coverall, Munford wanted to start a business where she would always be able to provide job stability to her family and members of her community; commercial cleaning, she believed, would always be in demand, and Coverall fit the bill.
"I feel strongly that in order to be fulfilled in life, people need to pursue their dreams, and I wanted to present an opportunity to help get them there," Munford said in the prepared statement.
- In addition to running her franchise, Munford works full-time as the director at her local community center, where she has developed many programs including summer camps for children in need, tutorial programs for students, martial arts, and events on major holidays. She developed a program called "Operation Backpack" where she, her staff and volunteers managed to receive donations of 1500 backpacks filled with school supplies for children in need, Coverall noted.
- In addition to the Lifetime Achievement Award, Munford has received many others including: the Black Educators Caucus' Award in May, from local teachers and educators and the Non-Rotarian Community Award in June, from the Rotary Club.
- Munford also has been awarded the Key to the City of Brooksfield twice, once in 1995 and once in 2003.
